Built in the mid 1980's in what was then a pioneering location, this community of duplexes now enjoys a location in the heart of Wrigleyville and offers comfortable accomodations for a very reasonable price.
With a modest beginning as innovative rental one-bedrooms, the architecture is bland but functiuonal. These are two-story duplex units, stacked one on top of another for a total of four stories. Long brown rows don't offer much in the way of visual interest, but the floor plans inside offer something different than most one bedroom rentals or condominiums in the neighborhood. Each plan offers an open living room with kitchen separated by a breakfast bar, and a corner fireplace. A staircase leads up to a lofted bedroom and bath. The loft is open to the living room below and the two-story space has dramatic high ceilings and tall windows. For their day, some nice features such as in-home laundry and the fireplaces were considered quite innovative and are still in demand today.
As these were built 25 years ago, some units are dated in decor. Most of the units are similar in size, so the price difference throughout the community has to do with whether a particular duplex has been renovated with modern fits & finishes, and whether the unit comes with a parking space. Not every unit in the community offers parking which is worth about $15,000 for each outdoor space.
